About

“Mummy, tomorrow I want food for recess, and food on the bus.”

Nearly everyday, my dear daughter Z will say this to me. Β πŸ™‚ So, that’s how my journey as a Bentomama started. πŸ™‚

I’m a work at home mum from Singapore, and I simply love giving my children home-food to be taken in school, and they simply love having them πŸ™‚

Hello! Your bento are very well done. I am a graduate student in Houston, Texas in USA working on a bento project. If you would be kind enough and have a few minutes, can you please answer some questions for my research? I will be very, very grateful!!
    1. What ages are your children?
    2. Do they ask you to make particular bento characters or is it always your inspiration?
    3. Do your children share and trade bento lunches with other children?
    4. Do they get to a certain age when they do not want bento any longer?
    5. Do your children’s school encourage bento to assist the children to eat all their food quickly?
    6. Does it matter to the school if they have interesting bento lunch or just a plain lunch?
    7. Do all the children have such interesting bento lunch?

Thank you, if you will please help me with my research I will be very grateful to you!

      Hi Barbara,

Thank you for visiting my blog.

      1. 8 and 10yo.
      2. Both ways, sometimes they request, other times my idea.
      3. I usually purposely put more treats into their boxes, which they do share with their friends.
      4. I think there will probably be a time when they will not want anymore. For now, sometimes my son will want to buy from canteen, so I will just let him me. I won’t force them them pack food. I allow them to make their own choices.
      5. Their schools are not against them from packing food. I think one reason is because the Q for canteen food can be very long. So bringing home food can be better and faster.
      6. It doesn’t matter to the school.
      7. Only a few of the schoolmates have decorated bentos.

      Hope this is useful πŸ™‚
