Maki with Chawanmushi Bento

After packing chawanmushi the last round, kids said that the chawanmushi broke apart.  I couldn’t quite understand but can only imagine what they were saying. This time round, I put less soup stock to the egg, to firm it up more..

I folded a piece of kitchen towel so as to absorb moisture from the chawanmushi.

Ever since we bought the new Rilakkuma bento boxes that comes with bag, I have been doing bentos related to bears 😛

Another one again 😛  Today’s are sandwich balls made using rice molds.

Message on a sandwich

For the brother, it’s one of his usual, cold noodle.

He was feeling kind of stressed about the tests in this coming week, didn’t do much to his bento.  But wrote a simple “I love you” message on his breakfast sandwich 🙂

Wonders of edible markers 😉

Bento 178 Korilakkuma Suntan Bento and Miso Noodle Bento

Korilakkuma Suntanning Bento

It started with just Korilakkuma giving a wave, but when gal saw the ‘finished’ box, she exclaimed “Korilakkuma Suntanning!” (I realised she doesn’t know that the white bear is Korilakkuma and not Rilakkuma).  So I took out the ‘umbrella’ and the final box became this 🙂

Bento 175 Cheat “Swiss Roll” Bento and Pesto Pasta with Sunflower seeds

Cheat Swiss Roll Bento

Can’t bake but still want to make swiss rolls and cinnamon sugar rolls?  This is perfect 😛  All we need is rolling pin, 2 slices of bread, butter, cinnamon and sugar 😉

Again, these bite sized rolls look little right?  There are actually 2 slices!!!! Since I be in school to help out, I shall see if gal finish them later.

Oh, inside the piggy and panda containers are just some sweets. 🙂 🙂

(See below for written note on how to do the rolls, sorry, no time to take picture. Maybe when I have time.)

How?

  1. Mix 2 tbsps of  cinnamon powder and sugar in equal proportion.   Put them in an old glass container for future use.
  2. Cute the sides off 2 slices of breads.  Roll and flatten them. (Use 2 different colored bread for better effect.)
  3. Spread butter over both slices.  Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over the butter.
  4. Stack 1 slice of bread over another on top of a cling wrap.
  5. Roll the slices up.  Wrap it with the cling wrap, leave it for a few minutes for the bread to ‘fasten’.
  6. Open up the cling wrap, cut.
  7. DONE!

Pesto Pasta with Sunflower Seeds and Broccoli

Pasta inside the food jar. The sunflower seeds give the punch.  A favorite family dish that is super easy to make in the morning.

How?

  1. Boil pasta in salted boiling water.
  2. While pasta is boiling, toast sunflower seeds in the oven for 10 minutes.
  3. Discard all but some water when pasta done.
  4. Scoop in 1 tbsp of store bought pesto sauce (or home made if you know how). (1 tbsp per serving, so 2 servings, 2 tbsps).  Mix well.
  5. Sprinkle ground black pepper, and generous amount of grated Parmesan cheese, mix well again.
  6. Scoop into food jar.
  7. DONE!

Bento 165 Pinocchio Bento and Mee Suah Soup Bento

Pinocchio Bento

I was in my girl’s school yesterday and got to see her having her snack from the box. 🙂  She poked the carrot stick into the princess, and that gave me the idea to make Pinocchio today.

I really should have made the original yellow hat for Pinocchio, but I ran out of time, so used the hat topper instead.  And of course Pinocchio is frowning 😉

I used a rice mold to make Pinocchio’s face :). I’m really making full use of my rice molds 🙂

Had to go to daughter’s Sports Day and didn’t had time to go for my coffee and breakfast.  Used whatever that was left to make a box for myself too!  Simple, no frill though. 🙂
