I just checked my last entry date, I disappeared for exactly 8 months!!!
For the second half of last year, I was still bento’ing, but partly I was busy, partly I wasn’t that inspired to do anything fanciful.
Ever since the school term started this year, I have been doing, just that been busy and haven’t updated the blog much. I will probably do batch updating.
For today’s post, I uploaded that I made this year. Nothing much fanciful, but they are simple and not difficult to complete on the wee early school day morning. Some of them, especially the rice bentos, were actually lunches that I made and brought to school for my children. For those, I had more time to do. 🙂

Woof Woof Bento
Biggy Bao Bento
I started serving in my church taking care of babies 9 to 14 months. With the location, it’s difficult to get lunch for my kids, I have no choice but to prepare bento for them on weeks when I serve.
I simply love the Kokeshi boxes which really came handy, especially the soup bowl. I made miso soup and put into my Zojirushi thermal food jar. During lunch, my kids pour the soup into the Kokeshi box’s bowl, allowed the soup to cool and were able to enjoy hot soup in church, especially after being there for hours, it can be very cold there. The portion is just right for daughter. The rice was at the bottom layer. Good that the box is too small for son, else I be so tempted to get for son too. Son’s church friend was drooling over their lunch :P, but son gladly shared his portion with his friend. So proud of him 🙂
Eh, noticed new box? 😛 Couldn’t resist the Lego long lunch box 😛
I’m actually glad that I can still get my fingers busy with bento making during the holidays. However, once term starts, will be tough on Sundays when I have to wake up early too. 😦 God’s strength be with me 🙂
Church Service Day Bento
Next post, look out for a interesting bread cutter review! 😀 😉
My Kokeshi Box in action 🙂 A very simple to do, 10 minutes Keroppi Bento. Originally only planned to do 1, but giant Keroppi looked ugly. Changed my mind and made 2 instead.
Main dish was marmite chicken, one of my family favorite 🙂
Some asked me if only Japanese rice can be used to make these shaped rice. My answer is no.
Tips : Normal Chinese Jasmine rice can be used to shape into rice balls. Just add slightly more water.
Another bento where I got the inspiration from the current Singapore’s McDonald’s promotion.
This bento ain’t one for going to school or outing, it’s just my fingers itch from no bento making, so made this for my lunch.
I wonder how my kids have the heart to eat. After completing, it took me another 2 hours to finally take my lunch. Simply no heart to eat the effort.

Simple Maki Bento for gal
No more time to make anything special for gal.
The bottom makis look like Tuna Maki right?!?! Kee kee kee, actually they are Taiwanese sausage 😛 Thought I have better mention it here, in case my reader think that it’s ok to pack raw food.
DO NOT PACK RAW FOOD!

Carbonara Bento for son
This is a bento which is really FOR ME. It’s not a character that the children like, but it’s something related to what I like.
u:zoosin is a character developed by one of the kpop singer that I like :P. So those who like Kim Hyun Joong, an actor and singer from Korea, will probably know this character.
